The Rabbit’s Swimming Lesson

A rabbit is born to run, not to swim. But his parents and teachers force him to learn swimming — and he fails miserably. This short article uses the rabbit’s story to ask a bigger question: Why do schools, families, and companies always focus on fixing weaknesses instead of building strengths? The result? Tùzi shì pǎobù guànjūn, kěshì bú huì yóuyǒng. Yǒurén rènwéi zhè shì tùzi de ruòdiǎn, yúshì, tùzi de fùmǔ hé lǎoshī yāoqiú tā qù xué yóuyǒng. Tùzi fèi le hěn cháng shíjiān yě méi xuéhuì, tā jì yíhuò yòu tòngkǔ. Lǎoshǔ shuō: “Tùzi shì wèi pǎobù ér shēng de, yīnggāi ràng tā fāhuī pǎobù de yōushì.”
The rabbit is a champion runner, but he cannot swim. Some people think this is the rabbit’s weakness, so the rabbit’s parents and teachers ask him to learn swimming. The rabbit spent a long time but still couldn’t learn; he felt both confused and painful. The mouse said: “The rabbit was born to run. We should let him use his running advantage.”
