Preposition “根据”
The preposition “根据” means “according to” or “based on” . It is used to introduce the basis, foundation, or reason for an action, decision, judgment, or change. It tells the listener what information or standard you are using to do something.
根据 + [Noun Phrase] , [Statement/Result]
Zhè jǐ nián xiǎoqū gēnjù tāmen de xūyào, yǒule hěnduō biànhuà.
这几年小区根据他们的需要，有了很多变化。
In recent years, according to their needs, the neighborhood has had many changes.
Gēnjù yāoqiú, wǒmen bìxū cānjiā míngtiān de huìyì.
根据要求，我们必须参加明天的会议。
According to the requirements, we must attend tomorrow’s meeting.
Lǎoshī gēnjù měi ge xuésheng de xìngqù, xuǎnzé le bù yíyàng de shū.
老师根据每个学生的兴趣，选择了不一样的书。
Based on each student’s interests, the teacher chose different books.
