Adjective reduplication in Chinese serves to emphasize the quality described by the adjective or to make the description more vivid and expressive.
Unlike verb reduplication which softens the tone, adjective reduplication actually intensifies or enriches the description.

2 Single-Syllable Adjective Reduplication
