1 Basic Structure: 在 + Verb
The particle 在 (zài) is placed before a verb to indicate that an action is in progress or happening right now. This is equivalent to the English present continuous tense (“be + verb-ing”).

Using 在 (zài) for Ongoing Actions
在 (zài) is placed directly before the verb to indicate the action is happening now:
Key point: 在 indicates the action is happening at the moment of speaking.
Using 正在 (zhèngzài) for Emphasis
正在 (zhèngzài) adds extra emphasis to show the action is definitely happening right now:
Key point: 正在 emphasizes that the action is definitely in progress at this moment
